Green Tea — Drink Up!
I’ve been drinking a lot of green tea this week, it’s been so cold at night and I need something hot to warm me up! Green tea is my favorite tea and I wanted to share some of its many benefits with you guys!
According to the Harvard Health News, teas have high levels of flavonoids, which are plant derived antioxidants. Antioxidants are really good for you, they prevent or slow down the process of cell damage or deterioration. The damage of cells in your body affects every system, including the skin. Antioxidants are your friends, and a diet high in antioxident-rich food will make you look and feel better today, and for years to come.
The antioxidants in green tea are extermely beneficial for our skin because it can slow down premature aging. There are an abundance of skin care products that contain green tea, but I personally like to drink it and enjoy its benefits the natural way. Beauty tip: If you want to keep those “pearly whites,” drink your tea through a straw so it doesn’t stain your teeth.
My all-time-favorite variety is Ten Ren’s green tea.
Ten Ren is a well-known chain tea store that originated in Taiwan. I used to go to their store in Irvine to get my daily dose of green milk tea with boba, however, once I found out how much sweetener was added to make the drink SO yummy, I opted for regular green tea instead. It’s still good and a lot healthier – without all the sugar and calories! A word of advice (if you’re not used to drinking a lot of tea), be prepared and know where the nearest restroom is, as tea is a diuretic and nature will surely be calling you shortly after you finish your first cup!
Happy sipping!
